Our Adoption Process

If you wish to adopt an animal from WIAR please follow these steps:

  • Go through our "Animals for Adoption" pages and see who is ready for their forever home!
  • If you are interested in a specific animal, please contact WIAR for more information on regarding their situation.
  • Set up an appointment to meet the animal you wish to adopt.
  • Fill out an adoption application and return to the Warren County Animal Shelter (Robbin Sage) or Monmouth Small Animal Hospital.
  • WIAR will then review your application and contact you as soon as possible regarding your adoption.
Please keep in mind that while our goal is to find homes for all of our animals, some situations may not be the best for individual animals. WIAR wants every animal to be as happy and healthy as it can possibly be and we place animals in the situations we feel they would thrive in. Please work with us to insure you are adopting the animal that would be the best match for you and your home.

Adoption Application


Adoption Fees:
  • Dogs and Puppies - $100.00
  • Cats over one year - $60.00
  • Kittens under one year - $75.00

Our Adoption Fee includes :
  • General Heath Exam
  • Spay or Neuter
  • Flea Treatment
  • Worming
  • Rabies, Distemper, and Parvo (Dogs) Vaccinations

Your adoption fee goes towards covering the cost for the animals health care while they are with us. Many of our animals have much higher health care costs and if you would like to make a donation to help with these costs please let the member of WIAR you are working with know.
All of your help is greatly appreciated.

*In some cases, WIAR will work with people who, for whatever reason, cannot meet all of our adoption standards. Exceptions can be made based on the individual situation if the person wishing to adopt can provide a safe and loving home for the animal. There may be additional paperwork or home visits required in these situations. If you have any concerns with meeting our adoption standards, please feel free to contact us so we can work together throughout this process.
